Craig Stapleton, 51, found himself spinning out of control and free-falling for three minutes before slamming into the ground at about 50km/h after his primary and secondary parachutes failed on Sunday, Fox News reports.
The 51-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder and bruising but was otherwise unhurt.
Stapleton was reportedly attempting a stunt called “down plane flag” at the time, which involves controlled spinning during a skydiver’s descent.
But after jumping from the plane just after 1 pm, the experienced skydiver quickly realized his descent was going too fast and his parachute had tangled.
Miraculously, Stapleton landed in a vineyard and narrowly missed the iron poles that were wedged in the ground.
