Nov 4 1979 : Iranian ‘Students’ Storm US Embassy, Take 52 Hostages

The Iran Hostage Crisis or what is known in Iran as ‘Conquest of the American Spy Den’ lasted for 444 days. Travel back to October 1979 and Iran was in a full swing Revolution with the President being overthrown and the Religious Ayatollah swooped in to grab power with his followers behind him, outnumbering all other groups.

Many Iranians were upset with the US supporting the the President/Shah of Iran and in response decided to storm the embassy and take hostages. Six people did manager to escape before being captured and this movie Argo focuses on getting them out of the country. The movie did a great job, check out the trailer below.
